10 STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL WEBSITE LAUNCH

You are ready to launch your new website but how are you going to attract visitors to your site? Carrying out the following 10 easy steps is a sure way to avoid issues and to make your website launch a success.

1. Include engaging content

You are ready to launch your new website but how are you going to attract visitors to your site? Publishing engaging content in the form of interesting statistics or a good blog will drive more traffic to your site and will encourage visitors to come back again. Before you launch, make sure your site contains some news stories, blogs, video material and industry insights.

2. Check everything then check again

It may seem obvious but there is nothing worse than browsing a website and coming across typos. Go over every piece of editorial content with a fine-tooth comb. Then do it again…Ask your colleagues to do the same as different readers see different things. It is amazing what mistakes a fresh pair of eyes can pick up on a site you have been looking at for weeks.

3. Test your site links

Carry out a test on all links on the site, and all Call-to-Action buttons too, to make sure all are working correctly. What you do not want to happen is for your valuable prospective customer to visit your site then to end up on a 404 error page. Make sure all links are working before you launch!

4. Trial the site on different browsers

Your website might look great on your browser of choice, but ask friends and colleagues to check how it looks on other browsers. Check Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla, Bing, and any other popular search engines that potential site visitors might be using. Note how the font displays in each. What about the imagery? And the navigation? Your site content should display well on all browsers before you launch the site.

5. Make it mobile

Is your website designed to be mobile-compatible? If not, make sure to do so asap. Studies show that the amount of time people browse the internet on their smartphone is on the rise. The graph below from Smart Insights shows the number of hours per month spent browsing on a smart phone by people around the world.  It is no longer a case of a mobile-compatible website being desirable, but making your website mobile-compatible is essential.

6. Conduct an SEO review

Have you given consideration to your Search Engine Optimisation? Or how to make your site more 'findable'. Before launch, checking the following list will support better search engine rankings for your site.GroupBuy SEO Tools

-         Do your header tags contain relevant key words for your business?

-         Does your site have page titles? These should appear when you hover the cursor over your website’s tab when open in a browser

-         Have you checked all site images to ensure that they contain the relevant meta tags?

-         Have you included keywords and terms relevant to your business in your editorial content without going overboard with the use of keywords?

-         Is your business listed on Google Maps?

The Moz domain authority is a great tool for tracking your site’s ranking performance. Find out more about DA here.

7. Do an imagery audit

Before launching your site run a check to ensure you have rights to publish all imagery or video displayed on your site. If you have used images of staff members, have a permission form signed before publishing any photos containing people. Also make sure that all imagery displays correctly and with no delays as this can make your site look slow and unprofessional.GroupBuy SEO Tools

8. Put your sign-posts in place

Have you placed the necessary Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons in the right places? Are they bold, bright and clearly visible on the page? It is important to guide the site visitor through your website by placing your CTA buttons or ‘sign-posts’ at strategic locations across your site.

9. Amplify your message

Wouldn't you like visitors to your website to spread the word about what a great site you have and to share your quality content? Ensure to make your content shareable in all the right places and where it is appropriate to do so such as on the blog page and on news items, by adding social media sharing icons.
